FREE Parenting Education and Support Group
Facilitated by Isabel Melo
Course Dates: Four Friday mornings/afternoons: January 15, 22 and 29, and February 5, from 10:30 to 12:30 p.m.
This four-week group supports parents through the challenges of parenting young children and helps them understand their kids from the inside out. Although the focus will be on toddlers and preschoolers, the material is relevant to children of all ages. The approach is attachment-based and developmentally friendly. Attachment is not just about baby bonding! It enables children (and adults!) of all ages to reach their full potential.
Please note that this group is for adults only. Kids should not be within earshot!
(For Power to Parent I: The Vital Connection, a Gordon Neufeld video-course, facilitated by Isabel Melo)
When my son was very young, I felt strangely confident about parenting. He is five now, and I had started to feel as though I did not really know what I was doing anymore. This course helped me to better understand attachment in the context of my relationship with an older child. I have gained insights into the dynamics of our relationship, as well as into my son's behaviour. I see him, and my role in his life, in a different light now. The course allowed me to be more empathetic, patient, and loving, not just towards him, but towards other people in my life. Isabel is a fantastic facilitator whose kindness and generosity emanates through her work. She creates a supportive space in which to deepen your understanding of Neufeld's work. I would suggest this course to everyone who is blessed to share their life with a child.

Location: 479 Saint-Joseph Blvd E., Montreal (just east of Saint-Denis, across from Laurier Metro)
This six-week course explains what every child needs us to know about them.
From the DVD jacket:
"No one is more susceptible to being misunderstood than the preschooler. Precocious, brazen, obsessive, endearing, hysterical, impulsive, anxious, delightful, unreflective, dogmatic, generous, unstable, aggressive, resistant, compulsive and anything but consistent. The preschooler could qualify for any number of personality and behaviour disorders. Unlike infants and toddlers, preschoolers actually bear a resemblance to grown-ups and therefore fool us into thinking they are much more like us than they really are. Projecting adult psychology onto them is a typical mistake."
The course will provide insight into your preschooler's:
- separation anxieties
- and more!
To make sense of a preschooler is to possess the keys for unlocking the mysteries of human nature and for the unfolding of human potential. This course is designed for all those involved with 2- to 5-year-olds: parents, grandparents, daycare providers and early childhood educators. Please note that this course is for adults only. The site is not set up for children.
